Jim has spearheaded debt and equity fundraising activities and sourced and structured mergers and acquisitions as well as ESOPs, longer-term, minority position, private equity transactions and recapitalizations for family owned and closely held businesses. He has also spoken at various conferences on the financial solutions to the capital and liquidity needs of family-owned businesses.
Prior to founding Belden Hill Partners in 2012, Jim was a partner at de Visscher & Co. for 21 years. He was also a founder and general partner of the private equity firm Family Capital Growth Partners L.P., which invested long-term, minority position capital in family businesses to foster growth and provide liquidity to shareholders. He was previously affiliated with Goldman Sachs & Co. and Ernst & Whinney’s privately owned business group where he served as a CPA. Jim has also been a director of numerous privately held companies and not-for-profit organizations.
Jim graduated from New York University with an MBA in Finance, and from Yale University with a B.A in History, where he was also a four-year letter winner on the hockey team. He is a Registered Investment Banking Representative and holds both the Series 79 and Series 63 licenses. Jim lives in in Wilton, Conn., with his wife, Donna, and their two children.
