Belden Hill Partners recently attended the 2018 FFI Conference in London, an annual three-day event for various types of advisors to family businesses. While the theme changes from year to year, the conference offers educational sessions focused a variety of topics, such as succession/transition planning, family business governance, wealth management, and philanthropy. As part of this year’s “festival” theme, presentations featured both research and practice to discuss points of view from around the world on cutting edge family business topics as well as new takes on classic themes from a multidisciplinary global approach to the field.
The Family Firm Institute (www.ffi.org) has been engaged for over 30 years in educating, connecting, and inspiring professionals who serve family enterprises. FFI is the leading association worldwide for family enterprise professionals and the organization of choice for the advisers, consultants, educators, and researchers who help to advise multi-generational family business enterprises.
Our involvement with FFI underscores our commitment to the family business field. BHP has made a long-term commitment to the organization, having served on the board and in treasury and development roles, as well as sponsoring past events. The annual conference also serves as a great forum for re-connecting with family business collaboration partners, in addition to creating new relationships as the family business field continues to grow. We’re looking forward to next year’s conference in Miami!
